LAKE FOREST – A 19-year-old man from Camp Pendleton suffered major injuries Thursday morning when he crashed his 2007 Toyota into a guardrail on the southbound I-5 north of El Toro Road, the California Highway Patrol said.

According to the CHP, at about 5:07 a.m. the driver veered to the right from an unknown traffic lane onto the right shoulder. He then crashed into a metal guardrail and rolled over.

The driver sustained major injuries and was taken to Mission Hospital.

A 20-year-old man from Whittier was a passenger in the Toyota and was taken to Mission Hospital with minor injuries.

Early reports made to the CHP indicated three people were trapped inside the vehicle. Only the driver and passenger were inside the Toyota, the CHP said.
