Bicyclist injured in hit-and-run

GARDEN GROVE – – A 53-year-old man was hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle early Friday morning, and had to be taken to the hospital with head injuries.

The driver who hit him did not stop, police said.

Just before 1 a.m., Garden Grove police were sent to the intersection of Magnolia Street and Chapman Avenue, where they found a man lying on the ground near his bicycle, bleeding from the head and face. Fire personnel took him to the hospital where he was also treated for a broken leg.

Police said that it appeared the bicyclist was going north on Magnolia when he was hit by a vehicle heading east on Chapman.

There were no witnesses to the accident itself, although a small red vehicle was seen leaving the area, police said.

Police asked that anyone with information about the accident call Investigator Jason Perkins at 714-741-5823.
