Bicyclist killed in Newport Coast

“Accident near Tesoro and Ridge Park Road leaves one dead”

A man riding a bicycle died Thursday evening after being hit by a car, authorities said.

Few details were immediately available.

Investigators were still at the scene of the accident late Thursday near the corner of Ridge Park Road and Tesoro, Newport Beach police Lt. Dennis Birch said.

The bicyclist was hit and killed about 5 p.m., Birch said.

He has not been publicly identified.
