Big-rig crash kills one, closes Hwy

One person was killed last night when a big-rig and a sedan crashed, spilling 150 gallons of diesel fuel and temporarily closing Highway 62 near Yucca Valley, according to the California Highway Patrol website.

The wreck was reported at 7:46 p.m. at Scholl Drive, just west of Yucca Valley.

The accident blocked lanes in both directions. At 9:20 p.m., the westbound lanes were reopened, allowing authorities to alternate the traffic flow for eastbound and westbound traffic.

At 1 a.m., one lane was reopened in each direction as cleanup crews finished mopping up the diesel spill.

The San Bernardino County coroner’s office has released no information about the victim.
