Carson woman struck, killed by truck

A 45-year-old Carson woman was struck by a truck and killed in Long Beach, police said Tuesday

The woman was hit about 6:35 a.m. Monday at Wardlow Road and Santa Fe Avenue.

Police said the driver of a tractor-trailer going south on Santa Fe Avenue attempted to make a right turn onto westbound Wardlow Road.

During the turn, the truck hit the woman who was crossing Wardlow Road.

She died at the scene. Her name was not released pending notification of relatives.

The truck driver, a 66-year-old Los Angeles man, was interviewed at the scene and released pending more investigation. He could face charges, police said.
