Driver dies after 6-car crash in Huntington Beach

The driver of a car that started a six-car crash in Huntington Beach Tuesday has died from injuries suffered in the crash.

Martin Espinoza, 55, of Huntington Beach, was pronounced dead at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday at UCI Medical Center in Orange.

Just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, Espinoza was driving his 1994 Dodge Intrepid northbound on Brookhurst Street approaching Adams Avenue and failed to stop in time, police said.

Espinoza slammed into the back of a Dodge Caravan driven by Paige Beyer, 38, of Huntington Beach, starting a chain reaction that damaged six vehicles. Beyer was treated at Hoag Hospital for pain in her arms and legs and then released. Nobody else was injured in the crash, police said.

Police ask that anyone who saw the crash call Investigator Dennis Fulton at 714-536-5670
