Driver flees scene after car hits bicyclist, officials say

“Bicyclist complaining of hip pain after being hit by car, authorities say.”

IRVINE – A driver fled the scene of a crash this morning after hitting a bicyclist, authorities said.

The bicyclist, described as a man in his 40s, was conscious and breathing, but complaining of pain in his hip, said Capt. Greg McKeown of the Orange County Fire Authority.

The incident was reported at 8:24 a.m. at the intersection of Irvine Center Drive and Pacifica, McKeown said.

Firefighters and an ambulance have responded to the scene, as well as officers with the Irvine Police Department.
