Driver injured as big rig overturns on LB Freeway

LONG BEACH – A big rig overturned Thursday on the Long Beach (710) Freeway, a city fire official said.

The truck rolled around 9:30 a.m. on the Pacific Coast Highway onramp to the 710 freeway, said Jackawa Jackson of the Long Beach Fire Department.

“Fortunately, there were no vehicles in the (far right) lane at the time of the accident. Otherwise, they undoubtedly would have been pinned beneath the wreckage,” Jackson said.

The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital for minor injuries, he said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
