DUI suspect crashes into police car
An Ontario police sergeant is recuperating from injuries he suffered last night when a suspected drunken driver rear-ended his patrol car while he was stopped at a red light, investigators say.
Twenty-year-old Francisco Javier Gutierrez, of Ontario, was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol following the 10:53 p.m. accident Monday at Holt Boulevard and Euclid Avenue, Sgt. David McBride said in a written statement.
Gutierrez also was booked for unlawful possession of alcohol and driving without a license, McBride wrote.
The injured sergeant’s name hasn’t been released. The 20-year department veteran was taken by ambulance to a hospital and was released several hours later, according to the statement.
