NEWPORT BEACH – A high school security supervisor and part-time basketball coach was sentenced today to a year in jail for unlawful sex with a 16-year-old girl he met while working at Aliso Niguel High School.

Thomas Cole, 33, Ladera Ranch, pleaded guilty in March to sex felony counts of unlawful sex acts with a minor, six misdemeanor counts of violating a protective order, and a sentencing enhancement for committing a felony while he was out of custody for another felony case.

Superior Court Judge Gregory W. Jones also placed Cole on probation for five years and ordered him to register as a sex offender.
