Head-on crash hurts five
NEWPORT BEACHA head-on collision Monday afternoon at Newport Boulevard and Hospital Road injured five people, Newport Beach police reported.
The two-car collision took place just before 4 p.m. The cars’ occupants received moderate injuries, Lt. Scott McKnight said.
Traffic officers are continuing to investigate the crash, McKnight said, but it appeared one of the cars left the roadway, hit some palm trees and careened into oncoming traffic. What caused the driver to go off the road has not been determined.
