L.A. firefighter suffers minor head injuries after falling from engine in Chatsworth

CHATSWORTH – A Los Angeles firefighter suffered minor head injuries tonight when he fell from the top of a fire engine in Chatsworth, where a car struck a restaurant and caught on fire, authorities said.
Firefighters were sent to 20456 W. Nordhoff Ave. about 8:30 p.m. after a vehicle crashed into a restaurant, then caught on fire, said Los Angeles City Fire spokesman Devin Gales. The fire was doused by 38 firefighters in less than 40 minutes, he added.

Gales said no one was hurt in the accident.

At about 10:30 p.m., during the department’s follow-up investigation, a firefighter who was standing atop an urban search and rescue fire engine fell to the ground, injuring his head, a Los Angeles City Fire captain told an On Scene Video camera crew.

He was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, and his injuries were non-life-threatening, the captain said.
