Man’s car impounded after colliding with bicyclist

LAKE FOREST – A 34-year-old Perris man was cited and had his car impounded for 30 days after colliding with a bicyclist Tuesday morning, police said.

Both the bicyclist, and motorist who was driving a Honda, were heading northbound on Portola Parkway near Glenn Ranch Road at 8:15 a.m.

According to police reports the driver of the Honda said he thought the bicyclist was turning right at Glenn Ranch Road, as he was, said Deputy Richard Nelson. Instead the bicyclist went straight and the two collided, Nelson said.

The 40-year-old bicyclist was thrown into the windshield. The impact cracked the windshield but the woman, who was wearing a helmet, was uninjured.

Deputies responded to the scene and found the driver of the Honda was driving on a suspended license. He was cited and his car was impounded for 30 days, Nelson said.
