Motorcycle officer hospitalized after crash

COSTA MESA – A Costa Mesa Police officer was taken to a local hospital after he was involved in a crash Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The officer’s injuries are still unknown.

Officers with the Costa Mesa Police and the California Highway Patrol are investigating the crash, which was reported at about 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Victoria Street, said Sgt. Brian Watkins of the Costa Mesa Police.

A gray Nissan Altima in the busy intersection also appeared to have been involved in the crash, showing damage in the rear passenger’s side of the vehicle.

It was not immediately known if anyone else was injured, said CHP officer Denise Quesada.

CHP officers are often called to crashes involving other departments.
Details on how the crash occurred were not immediately available, Watkins said.
