Motorcyclist ID’d after fatal big-rig crash

WESTMINSTER – A motorcyclist killed early Saturday after being run over by a big rig has been identified, officials said.

Nicholas Joseph Knoth, 20, of Huntington Beach, was riding his motorcycle northbound at 8:11 a.m. on Edwards Street when he appeared to have moved in front of the 18-wheeler and lost control of his motorcycle, Westminster Police Officer Rachel Archambault said.

“He was run over,” she said. “We are looking for anyone who may have witnessed the accident and may have seen if the motorcyclist was cut off.”

The driver of the big rig is not considered to be at fault at this time, Archambault said.

The accident occurred at near Edwards and Homer streets.
Mary Taber, a Huntington Beach neighbor who has known Knoth for 16 years, called him “a wonderful kid.”

Taber said Knoth was very close with his family and in the past worked construction with his father. She said he bought his motorcycle about six months ago.

“He was trying to figure out what he wanted to do with his life,” she said.
