A 37-year-old motorcyclist from Pomona was killed when his Harley Davidson bike was knocked onto the opposite side of the 57 Saturday morning, authorities said.

On Monday, the coroner’s office identified the motorcyclist as Ruben Salcido. Authorities initially reported Salcido was 38.The crash, involving two other vehicles, was reported just before 11 a.m. north of Rolling Hills Drive, said CHP officer Denise Quesada.

According to the initial CHP investigation, this is how the crash occurred:

A 34-year-old female driver from Chino Hills was traveling at 70 mph in the No. 1 lane in a 2000 Honda while the motorcyclist was in the carpool lane riding at 70 mph.

For unknown reasons, the Honda driver turned to the left and collided with the motorcycle rider.

The impact caused the rider and his motorcycle to go over the center divider wall and into the northbound lanes of the 57, causing the motorcyclist to collide with a 2001 Chevy that was traveling in the northbound carpool lane.

As a result, the motorcyclist died at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Honda was taken to UCI Medical Center with minor injuries while the 54-year-old driver of the Chevy, from Laguna Woods, was uninjured.
