ANAHEIM – A three-car crash on the 91 freeway jammed eastbound traffic for about 30 minutes Wednesday morning as officials tried to clear the road of one disabled vehicle.

One person was taken to a hospital to be treated after what officers described as a chain-reaction crash in the far-left lane.

The crash was first reported at 6:46 a.m., according to logs from the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officer D. T. Sparso said the crash appeared to have occurred as traffic slowed to a halt on the eastbound lanes of the freeway, just west of State College Boulevard.

A Honda Civic, carrying a male driver and passenger, is believed to have rear-ended a Toyota Echo, which then crashed into a Toyota 4-runner, Sparso said.

The driver of the Echo complained of pain and was taken to a hospital. His car was towed from the scene.

Lanes were opened by 7:05 a.m., but the right lane of the freeway remained blocked because of a fire truck.
