Roll-over crash kills driver near Needles

A roll-over accident killed the driver of a pickup truck before dawn today along a desert freeway near Needles, according to the California Highway Patrol website and San Bernardino County Fire Department dispatchers.

The truck flipped shortly before 3:15 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 near the Needles agricultural inspection station.

The victim died at the scene, said fire department Dispatch Supervisor Tim Franke. The victim’s name is being withheld until relatives are notified.
