RSM council to review city manager’s compensation

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA – The City Council will review City Manager Steven Hayman’s compensation agreement during Wednesday’s city council meeting.

Following an annual review of Hayman’s performance completed Jan. 13, the council is considering an increase of his comprehensive monthly leave hours to 29.7 from 22. Hayman would be allotted a new maximum cap of 648 hours, for which he would be compensated at a rate of $103.09 per hour should he leave his position, said City Clerk Molly McLaughlin.

The proposed changes to Hayman’s compensation agreement would not mean additional costs to the city, according to a staff report.

Hayman’s annual salary of $214,433.64 remains the same, as do his benefits, which include city paid medical, dental, long-term disability and vision benefits. The city will also continue to contribute to Hayman’s pension account at a rate of $301 per month.
