Teen skateboarder hit, killed by car

A 17-year-old Hesperia resident died this morning when he was struck by a car just before dawn.

Bryan Gomez was riding a skateboard on Avenue E north of Hercules Street when a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix struck him, the San Bernardino County coroner’s office reports.

The driver panicked and fled but later returned, the coroner’s office said.

San Bernardino County fire paramedics pronounced Gomez dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team is conducting an investigation, the coroner’s office said.
