Toddler run over in driveway as relative backs car out
“16-month-old girl taken to hospital after being hit by Honda Accord, officials say.”
A 16-month-old was run over at her home while a relative backed out of a driveway, but she is expected to survive, authorities said.
Deputies received a call at 9:20 a.m. at the 22900 block of Via San Gabriel, where the girl was hit by the car, said Lt. Mike Jansen of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
A grandparent or parent of the 16-month-old girl was moving their black 2004 Honda Accord but did not see the toddler behind them, Jansen said.
The girl was taken to Mission Hospital to be treated.
“She’s expected to survive,” Jansen said.
No one was cited in the incident, Jansen said.
