Vehicle crashes into mobile home

Police are investigating the scene of a crash in which a vehicle slammed into a mobile home at the 2600 block of West Orangethorpe Avenue.

The female driver had been doing some shopping on the north side of Orangethorpe shortly after 10 a.m. when she got into her burgundy Honda 4-door to drive away, Fullerton police officer Alfred Casas said.

Somehow, the woman told police, the Honda’s accelerator got stuck and drove through a grassy area separating the street from the parking lot, jumped both the north and south side curbs, drove through a brick wall and smashed into a mobile home, Casas said.

The vehicle broke a gas meter. Both fire and gas company officials are at the scene.

No one was evacuated from the mobile home park. The driver complained of minor pains but was expected to be OK, police said.
