Woman, 87, killed in wreck

An 87-year-old Coachella woman died hours after an Indio traffic accident that also hurt one other person, according to Riverside County deputy coroners and fire department officials.

Francisca Reyes was a passenger in a sedan that was broadsided by a pickup truck about 11:20 a.m. Monday at Avenue 48 and Indio Boulevard. She died at 2:48 p.m. at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.

One victim had to be cut free of the wreckage. The survivor suffered moderate injuries, according to fire officials.
