Woman killed when hit by car on PCH

HUNTINGTON BEACH – A female pedestrian was killed Thursday night after she was hit by a vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway, authorities said.

The incident was reported at 9:22 p.m. when the woman, whose identity has not been released, was crossing PCH, said California Highway Patrol officer Denise Quesada.

A 48-year-old man from Huntington Beach was driving a 2003 Chevrolet in the southbound lanes of the highway at that time, she said.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, was driving at no more than 45 mph when his car hit the woman, Quesada said.

The incident is under investigation.

No criminal charges have been filed and no one was cited at the scene, she said. Whether or not the woman was inside a marked sidewalk at the time of the incident is under investigation.

The driver was not believed to have been drinking, she said.
