Woman run over by SUV in mall parking lot dies

“50-year-old Downey woman dies after accident in shopping center.”

A 50-year-old Downey woman was killed Monday when she was run over by a sport utility vehicle as she walked by a parking lot.

The woman, whose named has not been disclosed, was hit near a grass median by the Cerritos Towne Center around 1:45 p.m. and taken to La Palma Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 2:27 p.m.

The driver of the sport utility vehicle apparently lost control of the vehicle, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver, a resident of Hawaiian Gardens, was not arrested or cited, pending further investigation.
