Woman whose van rolled on I-405 dies

WESTMINSTER – A Garden Grove woman involved in a freeway crash Saturday has died, officials have announced.

Sheri Byars, 48, died late Monday night at UCI Medical Center in Orange, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.

An autopsy has been completed but a cause of death will not be released until a death certificate is issued, the office said.

Byars was driving a van northbound on the I-405 freeway north of Beach Boulevard in Westminster at about 10:05 p.m. Saturday when it struck another vehicle, according to a brief description of the incident on the coroner’s Website.

The van rolled over before coming to rest. Byars died two days later, close to midnight on Monday.
