3 boys injured while crossing street in Garden Grove

by in News

Three teenage boys crossing a street in Garden Grove were injured Thursday when they were struck by an SUV whose driver ran a red light, police said.

The boys were conscious and breathing when they were taken to a hospital, Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney said.

The accident occurred at 5:55 p.m. when the boys were in a crosswalk on Westminster Street near Kerry Street, Whitney said.

The man driving the SUV remained at the scene and was cooperating with police, Whitney said.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, Whitney said. The intersection was closed for nearly two hours to allow police to investigate.
