More than 600 students spread among 20 university teams from around the world have descended on the SpaceX campus in Hawthorne in preparation for the third annual Hyperloop Pod Competition. The contest kicks off today (Sunday, July 22) at 11 a.m.
In 2017, edgy billionnaire entrepreneur Elon Musk – who also runs Tesla and the Boring Co. – held the world’s first two Hyperloop Pod competitions. Here’s all the background on Musk and the contest you may need.
Musk’s dream: A revolutionary, super-fast ground transportation system that would run even faster than the controversial, state-funded high-speed rail boosted by California Gov. Jerry Brown.
