by in News

A woman in her 20s died Tuesday night, July 24, in a fiery solo crash on Santiago Canyon Road, firefighters said.

The burning car was found over the side of the road in the brush shortly after the 10:09 p.m. call on the 11-mile stretch of winding road near Williams Canyon Road, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Tony Bommarito.

“Firefighters were able to simultaneously work on the patient and put out the fire,” he said. But the woman was pronounced dead at the scene after she was pulled from the car.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. Details about what led to the crash were not immediately available.

Santiago Canyon Road has been the site of several fatal crashes involving both cars and motorcycles. The windy road has one lane in each direction and is settled within brushy mountains and Irvine Lake.
