One person died in Huntington Beach on Friday after a car crashed into the back of a pickup truck, causing the truck to roll over, police said.

Huntington Beach Police Department Chief Robert Handy said officers responded to a call at around 3:40 p.m. about a crash on Warner Avenue and Nichols Lane.

Handy said both vehicles were traveling east on Warner Avenue, when the car hit the back of the pickup truck. The impact of the collision caused the truck to roll over, ejecting a passenger.

Police said the driver of the truck was sent to the hospital with significant injuries, and the passenger died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the car was sent to the hospital for evaluation.

All three people involved in the crash were adults, according to Huntington Beach police. Genders and ages and identities have not been released.
