Police: Foul play not suspected in death of man found in Anaheim reservoir

by in News

A man whose body was found floating in a reservoir Tuesday, Sept. 4 was not the victim of foul play, police said Tuesday.

Investigators are no longer looking into the case as a possible homicide, and were waiting for a toxicology report to determine his cause of death, said Sgt. Daron Wyatt, a spokesman for the Anaheim Police Department.

A passerby noticed the body floating in a flood control reservoir sometime before 7 p.m. on Sept. 4 and notified authorities.

Detectives were dispatched to an area near the intersection of East Street and Balsam Avenue. A team from Anaheim Fire & Rescue’s Swift Water Rescue Team recovered the body.

In a Twitter post, authorities initially described the person who died as a man believed to be in his 50s. The man’s name has not yet been publicly released.
