FULLERTON — A car slammed into a building in Fullerton Wednesday morning, sparking a fire causing two women to be hospitalized.

Officers responded about 2:30 a.m. to the 1000 block of Brookhurst Road near Orangethorpe Avenue and located the car through a wall of the building and on fire, according to the Fullerton Police Department.

One woman was pulled from the vehicle by officers and a second woman had already escaped the wreckage, police said.

Both women were taken to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

A witness told ABC7 he helped rescue one of the women in the vehicle.

“The fire was getting a little bit bigger… and I told my wife to grab the extinguisher,” the unidentified witness said. “The first one (I pulled out) was the driver, because she bounced into the back seat. We pulled her out the back window. We took her across the street and laid her down.”

The witness said he was in his RV at the time of the crash and heard the vehicle hit a dip in the road at a high rate of speed, then crash into the building.

No one was inside the building at the time of the accident.

It was unclear if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, police said.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
