GARDEN GROVE — A 14-year-old boy was struck by a car Wednesday, March 6, while walking to school in Garden Grove and was hospitalized in critical condition, police reported.

The boy, whose name was not released, suffered a minor skull fracture, broken nose and broken jaw in the collision, which occurred just before 8:50 a.m. at Garden Grove Boulevard and Nelson Street, said Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney. He added that while the boy was in critical condition, he was stable.

The boy was in a crosswalk when he was struck as the driver was making a left-hand turn, Whitney said. The motorist involved in the crash stayed at the scene, cooperated with police and did not show any obvious signs of impairment, Whitney said.
