Lot E at LAX will open March 28, bringing more long-term economy parking spaces

by in News

After cutting the number of economy long-term parking spaces nearly in half in 2017, LAX is set to bring that number back up.

Los Angeles International Airport is still in the process of shutting down Lot C, but airport officials announced on Monday, March 18, that Economy Lot E will open Thursday, March 28.

The new lot, located off 111th Street between Aviation and La Cienega boulevards, will initially offer about 2,000 spaces and will expand to 2,700 by the end of June. Like Lot C, the daily rate will be $12 per day, and a shuttle to the airport will take between 15 to 30 minutes, depending on traffic.

Meanwhile, Lot C will close to the public on April 1 and be converted to a space for construction and employee parking.

“As passenger traffic increases, so does the demand for long-term parking, and Economy Lot E is a great choice for our guests,” the Deputy Executive Director of Operations and Emergency Management Keith Wilschetz said in a statement. “By moving the long-term parking to Economy Lot E, we are providing more spaces while at the same time making room for construction of the Automated People Mover and additional employee parking.”

Although this change will not bring the number of long-term economy spaces up to the 4,300 that were available until 2017, officials said that a new 4,700-space parking structure is slated to open in 2021.
