1 dies in Costa Mesa 405 freeway crash

by in News

One person was killed early Wednesday, March 27, in a multi-vehicle crash that also caused the closure of lanes of the northbound 405 freeway in Costa Mesa.

Shortly after 4:45 a.m. officers were called to the lanes just south of Harbor Boulevard. They found a white sedan that had possibly been involved in a crash in the No. 1 lane. There were also two other vehicles nearby blocking lanes.

Just before 5:10 a.m., officers issued a SigAlert shuttering all the northbound lanes, all of which were re-opened just under two hours later.

Officers on scene called for the coroner and later detailed that three others were taken to hospitals.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
