by in News

A 32-year-old man died after being hit by a car Thursday, April 18, in Huntington Beach, police said.

Officers found the man in the roadway at Atlanta Avenue and Schooner Lane with significant injuries shortly before midnight, Sgt. Thoby Archer said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers saw a 1998 Toyota 4Runner with significant damage to the bumper and hood and found the driver, a juvenile. He stayed at the scene and cooperated with police in the investigation, Archer said in a statement.

“It appears the driver was traveling west on Atlanta Avenue when he struck a pedestrian in the westbound lanes of Atlanta, west of the intersection of Schooner,” he said.

It did not appear drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.

Anyone with information about the crash was asked to call Huntington Beach police investigators at 714-536-5670.
