A 29-year-old man who fled deputies in a green Chevy Tahoe Tuesday Oct. 15, after they say he ran a red light in Yorba Linda and led authorities on an 11-minute pursuit, reaching speeds of 100 mph.

The man, Nicolas Jeffery Olive, of Orange, is accused of not stopping at 11:32 a.m. at the light at the intersection of Yorba Linda Boulevard and Avenida Rio Del Oro, and then didn’t stop when deputies tried to pull him over, according to Sheriff’s Department Lt. Joe Cope. Olive then traveled on the westbound 91 Freeway to the southbound 55 Freeway, and then went south on the 5 Freeway, Cope said.

Olive drove at speeds up to 100 mph on the freeway chase, according to Cope.

“It was high speed on the freeway once they got there,” he said. “But there were light traffic conditions.”

Olive eventually got off the 5 Freeway at Newport Avenue in Tustin, Cope said, then surrendered at nearby Newport and Mitchell avenues.

Once he surrendered, Olive was cooperative, according to Cope. Deputies found drugs in the car, he said.

There was a warrant for Olive’s arrest tied to drugs, which is “most likely why he ran,” Cope said.

Olive was arrested and booked on multiple vehicle code violations, including evading, a felony charge, according to Cope.

A passenger in the car, a 28-year-old woman, was arrested and booked on suspicion of drug possession.

“They were also seen throwing something out that appeared to be drugs,” Cope said. “But at this point we don’t know what it was.”
