Firefighters working to extinguish blaze in gun range in Laguna Niguel
Orange County firefighters were struggling to gain access to a fire that started inside a gun range in Laguna Niguel on Saturday, Dec. 14, authorities said.
Firefighters were continuing their efforts to extinguish the blaze, which started about 2:30 p.m. at On Target in the 27600 block of Camino Capistrano, Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Tony Bommarito said.
About 70 firefighters were on scene trying to control the blaze, he said.
“It’s in the part of the shooting range at the receiving end of the bullets,” Bommarito said. “There’s construction back there with steel walls that catch the rounds, so it’s almost impossible to access.
“They’re trying to cut the metal to make access to get water in there,” he said.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the fire and it wasn’t immediately known if anyone was inside the gun range when the fire started.
