Driver dies after crashing into wall in Santa Ana

A driver was dead after he allegedly failed to stop at an intersection and crashed into a wall in Santa Ana Saturday morning, May 23, authorities said.

Santa Ana police responded to the crash in the area of McFadden Avenue and Ross Street about 2:45 a.m., police said.

Orange County firefighters also responded and rendered aid to the driver, a man, but he died at the scene, police said. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Investigators found the vehicle was traveling south on Ross Street, failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a short, stone dividing wall on the south side of the intersection, police said.

Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash, police said. Further details about the driver were not immediately available.
