11-year-old boy struck by van, suffers head injuries

HUNTINGTON BEACH An 11-year-old boy is in critical condition after being struck by a van while riding his bicycle to school Friday morning, police said.
The incident was reported at 8:28 a.m. at Brookdale Lane and Sunridge Drive, said Lt. Mike Reynolds with the Huntington Beach Department.
Police say the boy crossed the roadway in front of a 1970 Volkswagen van and the two collided.
The boy, who was wearing a helmet, suffered head injuries and was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, police said.
No one was arrested or cited at the scene, police said.
The incident is still under investigation, with authorities asking anyone who witnessed the collision to call the Huntington Beach Police Department at 714-536-5670.
