Escalade rolls, blocks car-pool lane

IRVINE – Traffic on the northbound I-5 near Jeffrey Road was blocked when a Cadillac Escalade overturned in the car-pool lane, the California Highway Patrol said.
The crash was reported to the CHP at about 12:17 p.m.
CHP officer Denise Quesada said there were earlier reports of a sofa in the same location.
“We’re not sure if the car swerved to avoid it,” Quesada said.
According to reports made to the CHP, the person that lost the sofa pulled over to the right shoulder of the freeway.
Witness reports also indicate that the Cadillac crossed over the double yellow lines to get into the car-pool lanes.
At this point, it is unknown how many vehicles were involved in the crash or if the sofa was involved, Quesada said.
Moderate injuries were reported, Quesada said.
A SigAlert was issued for the car-pool lane at 12:24. It was still in effect as of 1:15 p.m.
