Pedestrian injured in Santa Ana hit-and-run

SANTA ANA – Authorities seek a driver who fled after striking and injuring a pedestrian crossing a Santa Ana street Monday evening, police said.

The pedestrian was struck by a white sedan traveling northbound in the 1600 block of Euclid Street about 5:20 p.m., Santa Ana police Sgt. Matt Hermans said.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital with serious but not life-threatening, injuries, Hermans said.

The driver reportedly fled northbound on Euclid and was last seen passing 17th Street. Police did not release a description of the driver, describing his vehicle only as a white sedan.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the pedestrian was using a crosswalk when he was struck.

Police briefly closed the northbound lanes of Euclid between Westminster Avenue and Oakfield Avenue after the accident.

Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the accident or who has information about the driver’s whereaboutss to call Santa Ana police at 714-245-8201.
