Truck lands on side after hitting rock

A Chevrolet pickup truck traveling westbound on Ortega Highway landed on its side after hitting a rock off the north roadway edge, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported at 9:16 a.m. at Ortega Highway mile marker 11. A person was seen crawling out the vehicle, according to CHP Officer Denise Quesada.

According to CHP officer Tom McCulloch, the truck went up the embankment and wound up on its side after hitting the rock. The truck slid for at least 40 feet.

It took about five CHP officers to push the truck back on its wheels.

No other vehicles were reported being involved and there have been no indication of injuries, said Quesada.

Lanes were clear by 10:27 a.m.
