Woman, 77, dies after being struck by car

BUENA PARK – A 77-year-old woman died after being hit by a car as she chased after her dog, police said.

Belba Bray, of Buena Park, died about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at UCI Medical Center in Orange, police said.

Bray was chasing after her pooch when she was struck by a vehicle about 6:30 a.m. Monday in the 5900 block of Los Feliz Drive, near Los Flores Avenue, said Buena Park police Sgt. Bill Kohanek.

“The dog got away from her and she darted out into the roadway after the dog,” Kohanek said.

The male driver of the 2008 Dodge Charger stayed at the scene and was not cited. Bray was taken to a hospital with what appeared to be moderate injuries, he said.

The woman’s son heard the commotion and rushed to the scene. Bray’s dog was found and given to her son.
