Here’s what we know about the fires in Goleta, San Bernardino and Camp Pendleton

As a heat wave sweeps Southern California, fires continue to burn from Santa Barbara to Camp Pendleton. Here is what we know as of Saturday afternoon, June 7.

Box fire in Cajon Pass

  • 100 acres
  • 50% contained
  • Map shows where the Box fire is burning
  • No evacuations in place
  • 150 firefighters on scene
  • One lane of the northbound Highway 15 remains closed
  • Devore Heights has reopened
  • 5 firefighter injured

Valley fire near Forest Falls

  • 1,000 acres
  • 5% contained
  • Map shows where the Valley fire is burning
  • Evacuations: Forest Falls community, Momyer Trail, Vivian Creek Trail, San Bernardino Peak Trail & Big Falls Picnic Area
  • Evacuation center: Inland Leaders Charter School at 12375 California Street in Yucaipa
  • Pets: Devore Animal Shelter at 19777 Shelter Way in San Bernardino
  • Highway 38 remains closed from Bryant Street to Lake Williams Drive
  • 500 firefighters on scene

Holiday fire in Goleta

  • 60 acres, 20 homes destroyed
  • 5% Contained
  • Map shows where the Holiday fire is burning
  • More than 30 engines on scene or en route to fire
  • Closures: Cathedral Oaks has been closed from Carlo Drive to Patterson Avenue
  • Evacuations: 2,200 to 2,500 residents from La Patera Lane to Patterson Avenue north of Cathedral Oaks
  • Evacuation center: Goleta Valley Community Center at 5679 Hollister Ave. in Goleta
  • Large animals: Earl Warren Showground at 3400 Calle Real in Santa Barbara
  • Animals: County Animal Services and the Humane Society, 5473 Overpass Road in Goleta

Camp Pendleton fires

O’Neil Camp Ground has been authorized to remove personal property, but not for reoccupation. The following areas have been cleared to be reoccupied:

  • O’Neill Heights Housing (via Vandergrift Blvd to Santa Margarita)
  • Wound Warrior Regiment (via Vandergrift Blvd to Santa Margarita)
  • 27 Area Barracks (via Vandergrift Blvd to Santa Margarita)
  • DeLuz Housing (via 19th St and Marine Drive)

Vandergrift Incident

  • 560 acres
  • 70% contained
  • Started 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 6  in the Mainside area of the base

Horno Incident

  • 1,000 acres
  • 10% contained
