Costa Mesa police were investigating a theft of the Apple store inside South Coast Plaza after five suspects made off with about $29,000 in iPhones and iPads, police said.

The crime happened about 20 minutes before the 9 p.m. closing time on Monday, said Costa Mesa police Sgt. Mike Manson.

The suspects, who didn’t show any weapons, grabbed items and fled.

The suspects were five men estimated to be in their early to mid-20s. They fled the shopping center, at 3333 Bear St., in a silver Infiniti sedan.

“There were no injuries and no weapons involved,” Manson said.
