Connector from 605 to 91 closes after sleeping driver takes out guardrail

CERRITOS — The connector road from the southbound 605 Freeway to the eastbound 91 Freeway was shut down early Monday after an SUV driver fell asleep and damaged 50 to 70 feet of guardrail, authorities said.

The crash was reported just before 2 a.m., and the driver of the silver Acura RDX told the California Highway Patrol he fell asleep.

Caltrans was called to make repairs, and the connector road remained closed as of 6 a.m., the CHP said.

No injuries were reported.
