That, folks, is what Cowabunga is all about.

The International Surf Festival, which continued Saturday in Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach, is an annual celebration of the coastal folks who love their adjacent deep blue South Bay sea, as well as those who glide on top on top of it. The fest draws scores of visitors who have a simply gnarly time of it for five days on the beach.

Saturday morning was all about surfing – with and without boards. The festival hosted competitions for both board surfing and body surfing, as well as other lively competitions.

The bodysurfers were particularly hardy, up and smiling in the wee hours of the morning, wooing the waves to toss them about.

How were the waves out there? For the competitors, they were just like home.
