OC Fair 2018: Things to do today, Aug. 9

Headed to the fair today? Here are some things to know.

Hours: Noon to midnight

Admission: $12 adults; $7 ages 60 and older, $7 ages 6 to 12; free 5 and younger

Deals:

  • Wear your overalls and get free admission until 3 p.m.
  • Kids age 12 and younger are free all day.
  • Military members and veterans get free admission daily.
  • Free admission for active duty and professional staff of local public safety departments.
  • Taste selected fair food for $3 a sample until 4 p.m.
  • Buy a $35 wristband until 5 p.m. for unlimited rides; may be used until 8 p.m.

Things to do:

  • Matt Koerner will be performing from 8 to 11 p.m. on the Meadows Stage.
  • Kids can compete in an eating contest at 6:30 p.m. in the Explorium building, sign-ups begin at 6 p.m.
  • See the collections of area hobbyists, ranging from pop culture to vintage, in Gallery 15 by the Centennial Farm.
  • Playing at the Hangar: Totally Go-Gos and Idol X with tributes to The Go-Go’s and Billy Idol; requires a ticket
  • Playing at the Pacific Amphitheatre: Willie Nelson & Family and Alison Krauss; requires a ticket
  • Action Sports Arena: Orange Crush – Police vs. Fire Department Demolition Derby; requires a ticket
