by in News

Orange County Sheriff’s deputies were investigating the shooting death of a man in Midway City on Saturday, Oct. 27, authorities said.

About 6:50 a.m., deputies were called to Roosevelt Avenue and Adams Street in regards to a shots fired call and a person lying in the street, said Carrie Braun, a spokeswoman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

When they arrived, they found a man lying in the street suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Braun said.

The victim was approximately 30 years old, Braun said. Officials plan to release his name after next of kin are notified.

Witnesses told investigators a car was seen leaving the area around the time of the shooting and vehicle information was shared with local law enforcement agencies, but the vehicle was not located.

The department did not release a description of the vehicle.

Deputies do not have a suspect in custody and information about a suspect was not immediately available.

Investigators closed Roosevelt Avenue between Beach Boulevard and Jackson Street while they worked the scene, Braun said.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to contact Orange County Sheriff’s Department dispatch at 714-647-7000. Anonymous tips may also be submitted by calling OC Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.
